Who created the scouts movement?

The person o creates the scouts movement was Robert Stephenson Smyth Baden-Powell also known as B-P, was a lieutenant-general in the British Army and writer.

There are some books we had written:

  • 1908 the “Scouting for Boys”
  • 1909 the “Yarns for Boy Scouts”
  • 1912 the “Handbook for Girl Guides (co-authored with Agnes Baden-Powell)”
  • 1913 the “Boy Scouts Beyond the Sea: My World Tour”
  • 1916 the “The Wolf Cub's handbook

  • 1929 the “Scouting and Youth Movements”
  • 1935 the “Scouting Round the World”
  • est. 1939 the “Last Message to Scouts”.

The Scout Movement is a worldwide youth movement with the stated aim of supporting young people in their physical, mental and spiritual development, so that they may play constructive roles in society.

Scouting began in 1907 when Robert Baden-Powell, held the first Scouting encampment at Brownsea Island in England. Baden-Powell wrote the principles of Scouting in Scouting for Boys (London, 1908), based on his earlier military books. During the first half of the 20th century, the movement grew to encompass three major age groups each for boys and, in 1910, a new organization, Girl Guides, was created for girls.
